The Great Pyramids
The landscape is reminiscent of images of the lunar surface
The air is dry and hot The land is hard, brittle and covered
with stone
The pyramids rise above the horizon puncturing the surface in
mathematical perfection
They are majestic
Entering the
Great Pyramid was exciting, the narrowness of the ascending
hundred foot passageway, the height of the metal rung
ladders and the closeness of the air took my breath away.
You emerge from the Grand Gallery into the third chamber
that has five chambers above it. The five chambers support
the upper part of the pyramid so that its weight does not
crush the third chamber and collapse the pyramid. To stand
in the spot directly below the apex you gain an
understanding of the power and scope of your visit to the
pyramid. Built approximately 2560 BC the sides of the Great
Pyramid face the four cardinal points. The Great Pyramid is
one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
